CARD 01 He was Clippy's coworker

Microsoft Office shipped a whole cast of little helpers. The paperclip got famous. The cat got loyalty.

CARD 02 1997: you had to download him

Links wasn't in the box with Office 97. You went to Microsoft's website and pulled him down the phone line on purpose.

CARD 03 2000: he got promoted

Microsoft put him in Office by default. Office 2000 through 2003 was peak cat.

CARD 04 Someone filed a bug about him licking himself

A real complaint about a real animation. Microsoft closed it as by design, with the note: "My cat does this."

CARD 05 2007: they deleted him

Office 2007 replaced the assistants with a ribbon. No cat. No paperclip. Nobody on the screen at all.
